Here’s another Oscar-nominated short that has already won a 2010 Goya Award.
“The Lady and the Reaper” is a comedic short that “kills” for laughs. The director is Javier Recio Gracia.
You can view the short at its official site. You can look at the its official blog and the accompanying picture in this blog there.
At Vanity Fair, here’s a cool article on the cinematography of “Avatar.”
Reading the Times Online, you get the sense that Robert De Niro has mellowed out. You can read about it and a few tips on acting as well as Goodfellas”; at this link.
At AWN, you might be tickled to know that discussion to make “The Hobbit: Part 1” 3-D is now starting because of “Avatar’s” success. Guillermo del Toro (“Hellboy,” “Pan’s Labyrinth”) hopes to open the film in December 2011, but it may be pushed back to accommodate 3-D.
If you loved “Tron” and are curious about the new sequel, “Tron Legacy,” here you can read thoughts at Wired magazine about an early release of the trailer; to debut with Tim Burton’s version of “Alice in Wonderland.” If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, it’s great! “Tron Legacy” opens December 17 in the US.

I actually had a chance to meet the filmmakers of “The Lady and Reaper” at Lucasfilm. They are an amazing bunch of Spanish filmakers trying to jump start a sluggish animation industry in Spain. They already have a feature deal in the works because of their shortfilm. Not too shabby. Imagine if they take the oscar, the possibilities of European animation could open up to more projects.
